The “Sneaker capital of the UK” revealed

Trainermania is sweeping the nation and this got us thinking here at The Sole Supplier. Where in the UK are the greatest sneakerheads?

To find out, we’ve analysed the current data to rank the UK’s greatest cities out of ten for their sneaker culture, rating them on:

How hyped they are for new releases
The quality of each city’s shoe shops
The amount of trainer-related Google searches locating from that city
The number of visitors to The Sole vendor release pages

Drum roll please…the results are in!

Manchester officially takes the crown and is the sneaker capital of the UK scoring an excellent 8.49 out of 10. The city scored highly for the number of sneaker-related Google searches and hype-level around news releases.

Surprisingly, London misses out on the crown despite its status as one of the world’s four fashion capitals. However, London did come in second place, scoring well but let down by a low appreciation of its shoe shops.

Nottingham, Newcastle, Liverpool and Belfast also verified they are hotspots for trainer culture, coming in 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th place respectively.

However, it seems the people of Stoke-on-Trent, Hull, Bradford and Sunderland are less fussed when it pertains to their casual footwear.

But wait, there’s more. Which brand was the nation’s much-loved in 2018?

Nike verified to be the most searched brand in every UK city besides Glasgow where they pledged allegiance to Yeezy, particularly the Powerphase Calabasas Grey.

The Nike Air Max 1 Sean Wotherspoon reigned supreme as the nation’s much-loved sneaker last year, proving to be the most popular release in Leicester, Brighton, Belfast, Stoke-on-Trent and Cardiff.
